Politicus US Endorses Barack Obama

Barack ObamaIt is our belief that Senator Barack Obama is by far our best hope of regaining our democracy, our pride and decency, as well as United States’ standing in the world.

He is the only one of our presidential candidates who hasn’t supported the senseless and criminal war in Iraq and who seems to realize that the real problem is not how many troops we will deploy to the Middle East, but the fact that they are there at all.

It is high time to understand that having U.S. troops all over the world is not a solution to anything, but one of the causes of the conflicts and that solving Middle East’s conflicts will require far more than constant arming of an ally, without taking into account the harm, injustice and suffering that these policies are causing.

Let’s concentrate on creating a United States we can be proud of once again. Strong, but just. Decisive, but not bumbling and overwhelming.

Let’s also face up to other issues such as China’s outrages in occupied Tibet, our huge trade deficits and debts and the almost total domination of our country by corporate interests and the military-industrial complex.

John McCain on My SpaceIt is no surprise that all of our presidential candidates are also campaigning on My Space and on Facebook. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and also John McCain have their little nooks there.

Let’s start with McCain on My Space:

Male
71 years old
Phoenix, Arizona

Last login: 3/14/2008

Do you think that the Arizona senator actually logged into My Space two days ago?

Besides numerous videos and a bio it says: “John McCain has 48482 friends.” He seems to fare better on Facebook, which lists him as having 92,139 supporters. John McCain (or his handlers) at least are using a different photo on Facebook, than in My Space.

I have to cut McCain a bit of slack here. Unlike the Democrats, who claim that I am in their extended network, he simply says that: “John McCain is the GOP Nominee for President!” Almost true, but why does everybody and I mean everybody still calls him the presumptive nominee than? Does he know something that we don’t?

No room to copy his entire page, but you can look for yourself. McCain -My Space

Hillary Clinton MySpaceHillary Clinton is listed as:

Female
60 years old
Chappaqua, New York

Last Login: 3/16/2008

Gee! Today! Whoopie!!!

It also says that: “Hillary Clinton is in your extended network”. What the heck?! How does she figure that?

Hillary also seems to be waaaay ahead of McCain, because:” Hillary Clinton has 192948 friends.” Hillary is using the same, black and white, youthful-looking photo on Facebook, as in My Space, and has 135,644 supporters listed in Facebook.

Here’s her link for your viewing pleasure

Barack Obama My SpaceBarack Obama is listed in this way:

“Yes We Can!”
Male
46 years old
CHICAGO, Illinois

Last Login: 3/16/2008

Also today, making him, or his underlings just as current as Hillary’s, I suppose.

Just like in Clinton’s case, it says that: “Barack Obama is in your extended network.”

It appears that Obama is ahead of the pack in My Space, because it says that: “Barack Obama has 324047 friends.”

And the winner is? As far as the actual elections, or even the Democratic nomination, no idea at this point, but Barack Obama, despite re-using the same photo in Facebook that he used in My Space has “696,142 supporters” on Facebook. If that doesn’t make a winner in this day and age, what does?

But wait! My Space says that: “Ron Paul 2008 is the only candidate who voted against the invasion of Iraq and who voted against the Patriot Act” still has 130722 friends on My Space and 83,803 supporters on Facebook. That’s at least as good as McCain. Don’t give up the ship, congressman! :D

The Excitement About Spitzer’s Sexual Life

Eliot Spitzer, SildaAs we all know, former governor of New York State is just that, a former governor.

Eliot Spitzer, formerly known as “Mr. Clean” and “The Sheriff of Wall Street” was caught in flagrante delicto with a high-priced hooker. It might be interesting to note that Spitzer is (was) a Democratic super delegate pledged to support Hillary Clinton.

Whether Mr. Spitzer was unhappy with the sexual life he was having in his marriage with his wife Silda (and who isn’t after a few years?), or not should not really be discussed outside of his family. The point is, why is it that every sexual scandal leads to a political and professional downfall in this country of ours, which is still burdened by primitive and disgusting Puritan ideology?

For those still trying to defend the people, who first landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620, let me quickly explain that there was a very good reason indeed, why these religious fanatics wanted to leave England and why they weren’t wanted in Holland either. Puritans were some of the most loathsome people, to ever hold power in England. Their bloody, cruel and fanatical rule is one of the truly dark periods of history. When they established a colony in America, some of the same disgusting habits were carried across the ocean. Just look at the Salem witch trials, The Scarlet Letter, etc.

And a lot of that same kind of backward fanaticism seems to still pervade our society and culture now.

Eliot Spitzer’s downfall is also at least partly due to the fact that as New York’s Attorney General he has busted a couple of prostitution rings and put fighting corruption in the forefront of his agenda. And now, after years of using adjectives such as “unsavory”, “deceptive” and “tainted”, Mr. Spitzer can also consider himself seriously tainted.

The latest affair of course marks him as a hypocrite, for sure, but frankly, which politician isn’t one?

The sexual affairs and misconduct of FDR, JFK and LBJ were common knowledge, but nobody seemed to mind, as long as they were doing the job they were elected to do. After all, even politicians should have the right to be human and horny. The sexual problems surfaced in a media circus when the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky affair was uncovered.

It almost seems like the Puritan ideology has become more important lately, almost as important as at the time of the Pilgrims in Massachusetts. Are we sliding back into the dark ages again? Doesn’t the media have anything else to concentrate on in the age of genocide in Iraq?

The fact that Spitzer was stupid and desperate enough to shell out as “Client 9″ some $4,300 for three hours with a (probably) cute, “Kristen”, “a petite, very pretty brunette, 5 feet 5 inches, 105 pounds” is dumb. Maybe he should have resigned, but why the media feeding frenzy again? The fact that he was screwing hookers should largely be an issue between him and his wife and if he wasn’t attractive and sexy enough to get some pussy, even while being a governor and obviously wealthy, should be his problem, not mine. As Willie Nelson said in a recent interview: ” Money makes women horny”. Enough said!

Bear Pork, or Porking Bears?

John McCain bearWhile both of our democratic frontrunners are trading jabs, with Bill Clinton once again bringing up the offer of having Barack Obama as his wife’s running mate and all kinds of democratic big shots scrambling to resolve the issue of the disallowed Florida and Michigan delegates, John McCain’s campaign is not deviating from its usual course.

While McCain’s 100-year war in Iraq is still costing us to the tune of $12 billion per month, the estimates for the total war expenditures reach the three trillion mark and the number of dead Iraqis approach one million, the Arizona senator has now taken on grizzly bear research.

Not in a good sense, mind you, but rather as part of McCain’s never-ending war on pork. The good senator has targeted a number of pork projects before and generally speaking battling government waste is a laudable goal, but while criticizing Alaska’s “bridge to nowhere”, or the Woodstock Museum might have some merit, getting bent out of shape because of a beneficial and needed bear DNA study is laughable.

Despite the fun McCain had ridiculing the bear project on the Senate floor and on the campaign trail, he didn’t actually try to remove it from the bill. He did introduce several amendments, including three to reduce funding for projects he considered wasteful or harmful, but none removing the grizzly bear project appropriations. And despite his criticisms, he voted in favor of the final bill.

John McCain declares with horror and astonishment, that the federal government has spent $3 million to study grizzly bear DNA. “I don’t know if it was a paternity issue or criminal,” he jokes, “but it was a waste of money.” McCain’s campaign ad declares: “Three million to study the DNA of bears in Montana. Unbelievable.”

What we find unbelievable is the fact that to McCain spending three trillion dollars in a senseless war is OK, but spending a teeny, weensy fraction of that huge amount on something actually meaningful and useful is anathema.

Have you considered that maybe this war on bears is causing our present bear market?

barack obama hillary clinton Clinton McCain, or Obama McCain in November? In Wyoming Barack Obama has won 61 per cent of the vote, against 38 per cent for Hillary Clinton. In effect Mr. Obama won seven of the state’s 12 delegates, against five for Mrs. Clinton.

While Senator Obama consolidated his lead in the count of delegates to about 120, his advantage is still so small that the race is likely to continue well beyond the next large primary in Pennsylvania on April 22.

Both campaigns have been fighting over the fate of delegates from Michigan and Florida, which held primaries in January defying the Democratic Party rules and were therefore set to be excluded from the convention.

Proposals being discussed by party leaders in both states include repeating the vote, possibly by mail, or splitting the delegates on an equal basis. The latter solution would likely favor Mr. Obama because of his delegate advantage, that’s why Mrs. Clinton’s supporters are strongly pushing for a repetition of the vote, because she won the contests in both states in January.

The next contest will be held Tuesday in Mississippi, which has a large percentage of African-American voters, quite possibly giving Barack Obama another boost.
