The pigeon brings the same wonderful relief we — those of us, well, experienced by the seasoning advantage of age — enjoyed with a great, bright flash of a movie from the darkest days of the Cold War: Dr. StrangeLove. Of course, there are an unruly collection of important issues about geo-politics, but perhaps most important of all is the matter of humor! Our enduring humanity is sincerely served, not by the blast capacity of our latest “death ray,” but by our ability to trot out some dark humor about it, proceeding to laugh our a**’s off about ourselves.
